Be Transformed

Romans 12:2

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Do you want to know the will of God for your life? Most of us do, and many of us have no idea how to find out what God’s will is. The Bible makes it clear that seeking God first and becoming more like Him is the only way to know His thoughts and His will for our lives. So how do we seek God? We seek God by going to His Word. When we spend time reading the Bible and meditating on its truths a marvelous thing happens! We are transformed. Our thoughts about life begin to change. We learn to recognize truth. We gain wisdom and understanding. When we add action to our knowledge and begin to do the things we are learning in God’s Word, we become more like God in the person of His Son, Jesus Christ.

Becoming like Jesus aligns our thoughts with His thoughts and our actions with His actions. Then we can know the will of God in every situation. We need only to look to Jesus and how He handled the various situations He came across in life to know how we are to handle our own situations. The Bible tells us that Jesus was tempted in every way but never sinned. If we want to be transformed and to have our mind renewed, we have to change what we are putting into it. If we feed our mind a nonstop diet of worldly things, our mind will be worldly. But if we feed our mind a diet of the Word of God, our mind will become transformed into the mind of Christ.

If you’re struggling with knowing God’s will for your life and for your situation, turn to the Word. Find Scripture verses that speak truth to what you’re going through. Find promises you can stand on to keep your faith strong in this moment. Meditate on these things instead of on the uncertainty and worry that you’ve been meditating on. God promises to use His Word make you more like Him.

Father, thank you for your Word. Whenever I need a promise or a blessing, I know I can find it there. Whenever I need wisdom and instruction, I know I can find it in your Word. By meditating on your Word instead of on my circumstance, I can know what your will is for my life. Thank you, God, that you use your precious word to transform my mind and to make me more like you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
